A “Banana Date” Energy Drink – Vegan Recipe
A Natural Filling Energy Drink
This drink has a favorite of mine for my lunch, and I like to drink it before and sometimes after workouts. The “Banana Date Energy Drink” is high in:
1. Simple carbohydrates which quickly convert to energy
3. Electrolytes to support muscle function: potassium, phosphorus, and sodium
4. Essential fatty acids to support body functioning
5. Vitamin B6, vitamin C, manganese it also contains a wide range of other vitamins and minerals
Oh, it also tastes pretty good.
Things evolve and we must be ready to embrace change. I have been experimenting with increasing my carbs and reducing my fat intake. This idea comes from the fruitarians’ 80/10/10 diet. 80% carbs, 10% fat, and 10% protein. After I started my vegan diet I dropped around 20lbs and stayed at a steady 160lbs. I wanted to test the fruitarian theory of the 80/10/10 diet and see how it affected my weight. I changed my diet to 60/30/10 – 70/20/10 and I was able to lose weight. Though I feel absolutely wonderful, I am losing a little bit too much weight and I don’t want to get any lighter than what I just weighed myself at 154lbs. I will add some more fat and reduce a little carbs to put back on 2-4 lbs.
The modified smoothie is a high carb smoothie and it tastes awesome. It is sweet with a bit of spicy kick from the ginger.
