Cardio workouts are a great way to get in shape.
Cardio workouts contrast with weight training exercises in that cardio exercises are geared towards increasing your cardio vascular strength.
Weight training is geared towards increasing your muscular strength.
Increasing your cardiovascular strength means you are strengthening your body’s ability to deliver blood, oxygen, and nutrients to your organs more efficiently, which result in healthy living.
Performing cardio workouts correctly and over a sustained period of time causes you to burn fat. The increased movement over a sustained period of time causes you to burn more calories to supply your body’s with more energy.
Sustained cardio workouts cause you to burn your sources of stored energy, your stored fat, to supply you with the energy needed to maintain your cardio workouts.
Types of cardio exercise include, my favorite exercise boxing, biking or cycling, spinning, running, power walking, swimming, stair master, step classes, aerobics, and zumba.
Cardio workout routines are usually done for at least 45 minutes, to able to start dipping into your stored energy and burn your stored fats cells.
Some people will do a 30 minute cardio workout, but I opt for 45 minute cardio workouts at the minimum to make sure I get a full burn.
If you are just beginning you should start off with low to moderate intensity to get your body used to performing the cardio workouts.
It sometimes takes some patience at first because there is a tendency to want to jump into cardio exercises at full intensity.
Moderate to full intensity is where the real gain is achieved, but if your body is not ready for it this level of intensity it can result in injury.
With cardio workouts, don’t be afraid to get hot and sweat. It is something you want to achieve. As is said, you want to leave something on the floor at the end of good cardio workouts. That something is sweat.

Cardio workouts are a great way to achieve healthy living, but it is only part of the solution. Exercise and good nutrition go hand in hand in achieving optimal health and I have achieved my high level of health through eating a plant based diet.
