Foods That Cause Gout

“Foods that cause gout” are foods that are high in purine. More exactly it is animal-based foods that contain purine. Two large studies done by Hyon K. Choi showed that eating high amounts of meat and seafood was associated with an increased risk of gout, while the consumption of purine-rich vegetables or vegetable protein was not associated with an increased risk of gout.

High and moderate purine rich meat and seafood raises blood uric acid levels, which can lead to the development of gout.
