Losing Weight Wasn’t My Goal – Becoming Healthy Was

My Journey To A Better Me
My Journey To A Better Me

My rapid weight loss started as byproduct of me adopting a plant based diet to maximize my health*. As a result of my plant based vegan journey, I realized that my excess weight, sickness, and lack of energy were due to my toxin laden fats.

My excess weight was also called by my intestines and organs being overwhelmed by toxins and waste caused by the abundance of processed foods, meat, and dairy I ate. My weight gain started after I stopped being active competing as an amateur boxer.

My Weight Gain Before My Current Weight Loss

My weight gain started after I stopped competing as an amateur boxer and stopped being active twenty years ago. I am 5’9″ and my weight went up from 147 lbs to 198 lbs within two years. I just chalked this weight gain up to the natural evolution of getting older and my body slowing down. I still felt physically strong, and I felt okay with my weight, but I didn’t feel okay with my lack of energy.

As time went on, I started to feel tired and sluggish all the time and I really didn’t like the feeling. I would often take naps during lunchtime at work because I had a hard time staying awake. After awhile, I started to think that maybe a reason why I had a lack of energy was because of the weight I gained, but I wasn’t sure.

I wasn’t sure exactly what was making me so sluggish. Was it because I was getting older? What is because I stopped boxing and working out as much as I once did? Was the foods I was eating the reason? I thought back and remembered that I felt better when I removed pork and then beef from my diet.

I did feel better when I stopped eating pork and beef, but I hadn’t started to eat it again and I still gained weight. So I wasn’t sure if the extra weight I gained was causing me to feel sluggish, but I did know cutting out pork and beef made me feel better. After thinking it over, I decided to try giving up poultry to see how that would make me feel.

My Weight Loss After Removing Poultry

When I gave up poultry I stopped feeling as sluggish as I did before. I gained more energy and guess what, I loss weight. At this time my weight loss wasn’t really wasn’t a concern of mine, and I was mostly concerned with just feeling more energetic. It just so happened that removing poultry from my diet did make me feel better, and it also resulted in weight loss.

Was there a connection here? I dropped down from 198lbs to 180lbs, while I just ate fish and a little dairy (as far as animal protein goes).

While I was eating this way I felt pretty good, or at least I thought I did. As people we are very adaptive, and when we are in a condition for a long time that is working but not optimal, we often accept that condition is being good.

I had chalked up my weight gain and feeling sluggish to getting older, and to working hard to survive. I now realize that this is all conditioning and it doesn’t have to be this way.

My Weight Loss: A Plant Based Diet

Along my journey, I started to study the principles of a plant based diet and it made sense to me. Eating a plant based diet was supposed to combat excess weight, sluggishness and illness, and I decided to give it a try to maximize my healthy living.

So I gave the diet a try because I wanted to fortify my health and remove my risk of developing cancer, heart disease, asthma, or some other chronic disease. My health and energy have benefitted such much from the change that a plant based diet is now my lifestyle.

My energy now is always very high, and I am always in an energetic mood. I can actually concentrate on what I ever want to do now, and by the way my new lifestyle resulted in weight loss. My weight loss resulted in my weight dropping to between 155-160 lbs and I am feeling great!

Obesity, lack of energy, and illness is so rampant because we have moved away from a nutrient dense diet that consists mostly of whole food plant based diet, to one now that consists mostly of processed meat and processed foods that are full of toxins. The latter is the root of illness.

My Weight Loss: Being Energetic

My concern with being energetic and maximizing my health led to my weight loss. I see no way that I could be at this energy level and level of health carrying the excess weight I got rid of.

I also feel that I am no different from most people, by accepting sluggishness, weight gain, and even illness as part of the evolution of growing older. We all need to realize that this is not true and that weight loss is possible as we get older, whether you are a man or a woman.

I adopted a plant based diet to feel youthful and energetic again, and I have succeeded. As I cleansed and strengthened my body, I have realized more clearly how our bodies are temples for God’s breath and spirit.

It is just way easier for me to be cheerful, considerate, understanding, patient, energetic, strong willed, upbeat, and focused when my body doesn’t act against these attributes and supports them.

I need my body to be in optimal working condition to be able to live these attributes in every moment of my life. My weight loss is not my identity. My weight loss assists me in achieving my purpose in life. To supply a clean temple for God’s breath, to let the positive attributes of God shine through in every moment. What is your reason for seeking weight loss?

I achieved my weight loss by following this nutritional guide and alkaline diet. I also achieved my weight loss by being very active and exercising through boxing, cycling, and power walking.
