Attitudes towards the use of medical marijuana are changing across the U.S. undoubtably do to the remarkable testimonials of marijuana’s ability to cure diseases.

It appears Iowans are also being moved by the waves. A latest poll by Quinnipiac University found that an overwhelming 81 percent of voters there support medical marijuana, compared to a mere 17 percent who were opposed to its use.

It does appear the opposition is to smoking marijuana as opposed to consuming cannabis oil of making vegetable juices with it.

The potency of marijuana’s benefits is in the use of the oil or making vegetable juices, in contrast to smoking it. Most of its medical benefits are lost smoking marijuana.

Though the majority of the Iowans support the use of medical marijuana, the support declines sharply concerning the use of recreational marijuana.

The concern comes from marijuana’s ability to impair judgement and reaction time.

“Iowans overwhelmingly think marijuana should be legal for medical purposes, but most voters oppose legalizing personal recreational use,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. “Opposition to personal marijuana is higher in Iowa than in any state we’ve surveyed so far on this subject. Support for medical marijuana is comparable to other states.

“A total of 83 percent of voters would be somewhat uncomfortable or very uncomfortable riding in a car driven by someone who has smoked marijuana.”

Another concern is people believe “Marijuana is equally as dangerous as alcohol, 49 percent of voters say, while 16 percent say it is more dangerous and 31 percent say it is less dangerous. Voters are divided 46 – 46 percent on whether marijuana use leads to other drugs. Men say no 50 – 42 percent while women believe 51 – 42 percent it does lead to other drugs.

I think the solution is to legalize the use of cannabis oil and making juices from the fresh marijuana leaves. Making juices from the leaves and buds doesn’t get you “high” because it is the heating process the changes marijuana’s chemical structure which causes you to get high.

The processing of cannabis oil does use heat and because of its concentrated strength and ability to put you to sleep, it is best to take it and stay home and sleep.
