Franken Abs – My ABs Are Taking On A Life Of Their Own
Birth Of The Franken ABs
My desire to be able to do the flag is pushing my AB workouts to where they haven’t been before.
Since the start of the evolution of my AB workouts I have increased in a few days from doing 5 different sets of 250 total reps of AB exercises, to the next day of doing 6 different sets of 300 total reps, to today of doing 8 sets of 400 total reps.
I have a ways to go until I am able to control my form the way I want to. Right now I am using my arms to brace my back from off of the floor. I want to be able to do these exercise without using my arms the way Pacquiao does in the video below.
- 1st set: 50 sit ups
- 2nd set: 50 alternating legs raises
- 3rd set: 50 leg scissors
- 4th set: 50 leg push outs
- 5th set: 50 right side crunches
- 6th set: 50 left side crunches
- 7th set: 50 alternating legs raises
- 8th set: 50 leg scissors
God willing, I plan on continuing to go through the cycle until I reach 500 reps, and do this in the morning and evening until it becomes easy breezy. I am not ye able to go through the whole thing yet without taking a break. On this pass I took a couple of 5-second breaks through the routine. I should be able to get taking no breaks soon.
I think I am making good progress towards my goal of strengthening my upper body and my ABs so I can do the flag. I think by the end of next week I will reduce the weight used on my assisted pull ups to make it harder for me to do them. I will also see if I can do 15-20 unassisted pull ups straight. I think the 15 should should be achievable because I know I can do 10 unassisted pull ups straight. I just haven’t tried for my max.
