Meat-Centered Diets Are Causing The Proliferation Of Disease And The Death Of The Earth’s Ecosystem

The Lancet medical journal reported[1] that climate will be the biggest global health crisis in the 21st century surpassing chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.

The negative effects of climate change will the threaten the wellbeing of billions of people. The thing is many people don’t understand it is the overproduction of animals needed for human consumption that is leading reason for this dire outlook.

The industries needed to supply the demand for people’s meat-centered diets are crippling the ecosystem, and the overconsumption of animal products is destroying the health of human beings.

The additional greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere as a byproduct of animal production is causing the temperature of the earth to rise past what can support a healthy ecosystem. This will result in drought in many areas and flooding of coastal land from melting ice caps.

The production of the same foods that create the most greenhouse gases, are also the same foods that contribute to many of our chronic diseases. These foods include meat, fish, eggs, and dairy.

In order to stop the damage industry has done, and to help the earth to repair itself, people will need to adopt a whole food plant-based diet, or a diet close to it.
