Fond Du Lac Family YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program 2015
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA in Wisconsin is doing its part in reversing chronic disease. The YMCA branch offers a group-based lifestyle intervention Diabetes Prevention Program, which has been proven to reduce the number of new cases of diabetes by 58 percent overall and by 71 percent in adults over 60.
The YMCA is currently forming new sessions of the program set to begin in late September, and has invited the Fond du Lac community to an instructional seminar called the Diabetes Prevention Program Session Zero. The seminar is designed to give community members a chance to learn about the full diabetes prevention program. The instructional seminar also allows the community to hear testimonials from past participants which will hopefully encourage people to join the program. Kristen Quast who is the program’s coordinator and lifestyle coach will run the seminar.
The free Diabetes Prevention Program Session Zero seminar is set to take place Tuesday, September 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Fond du Lac Family YMCA’s board room. Advance registration is available to ensure a spot and to avoid extra time that will be needed to register the day of the seminar. Interested parties can call 920-921-3330, or apply online at fdlymca.org on the Diabetes Prevention Program page.
