Here is another reason to to increase your vegetable consumption. Phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables like kale strengthen our gut immune system. We need to realize and spread the word that plant-based foods work best with our bodies to protect and strengthen our health.

We have to be diligent in spreading this message to counteract the brainwashing we receive from the food industry that promotes heavy meat, dairy, and processed food consumption over God/Nature given foods that are here to keep our bodies operating in a state of homeostasis.

Homeostasis is the state where all the organs and functions in our bodies are operating at their optimal levels, which protects us from disease and illness. Dr. Greger explains in depth in the video below how phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables like kale, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower naturally link to our intestinal walls to block pathogens or toxins from entering the bloodstream.

The lining of the intestinal walls contain receptors called Aryl hydrocarbon receptors (AhR) that are locks to keep toxins out of our bloodstream, which helps to keep us from getting sick. Cruciferous vegetables contain a phytonutrient that is transformed by our stomach acid into a key that naturally fits into the Ah receptor and locks out toxins.

The phytonutrient’s interaction with the digestive process leads to the activation of the Ah receptor. The phytonutrient present in cruciferous vegetables act through the Ah receptor to promote intestinal immune function, which revealed a critical link between the AH receptors and immunity.

This is very important to know and understand because most of our immune system is in our gut or digestive tract. Check out the video by Dr. Greger for further explanation.
